Parent Involvement
Our parent involvement and family atmosphere sets the Visitation Scholarship Program apart from other programs. Parents are required to attend monthly parent meetings and other special events. The parent meetings are an important time for parents to discuss VSP business, personal enrichment, parenting skills, and finances. Prayer, guest speakers and group discussions facilitate an atmosphere of mutual support among parents and staff. Some examples of the special events are the back to school retreat and the Advent prayer/pot luck dinner.
Parent Planning Committee
The Parent Planning Committee works with the entire parent community to provide support. The committee is made up of volunteers who elect their own chairperson, secretary, and treasurer. The PPC meets four times a year and its responsibilities include:
- Helping plan the monthly topics for VSP Parent Meetings and Parent Retreat
- Facilitating Parent Meetings
- Assisting with the annual Appreciation Event
- Serving as resource for parents
- Acting in an advisory capacity to the Program Director
